A breakdown of the reasons I moved my websites to Mediavine and how to optimize your earnings with Mediavine.
I’ve been a busy bee settling down in a new country plus a lot of other life stuff. Things are not quite back to normal yet.
However, I’ve slowly been trying to get back into my blogging and writing grind the last few weeks across multiple projects.
I’m starting with the popular Make Money Online series and covering my experience making money with Mediavine Publisher Network.
One of the ways I currently monetize two of my beauty and lifestyle websites is ad management via Mediavine Publisher Network.
I moved these sites to Mediavine Publisher Network a few months apart last year and the rewards have been incredible.
Running a successful website and cranking out regular content with lots of information for your audience costs a lot of money.
Running ads is just one of the ways available to offset these costs and continue to provide immense value to your audience.
Some of my websites, including this one, are still with Google Adsense while the others have been moved over to Mediavine Publisher network.
When I initially moved my websites over to Mediavine Network, I was skeptical for the first few weeks but by week 4 or so, my expression changed to something like below:-
I hoped to earn more money than I did with Google Adsense but was not ready for almost ten times the income! In this review, I’ll be going over:-
- Mediavine Publisher Network basics
- Reasons I moved my websites to Mediavine Publisher Network
- How much money you can make with Mediavine Publisher network
- How to join Mediavine Publisher network and
- How to prep your site before you apply for Mediavine Publisher network
What is Mediavine?
Mediavine is a full-service ad management company that was launched in 2014 by bloggers for bloggers.
They work directly with ad exchanges and advertisers to get the best deals for ads on your website.
They take the ad space inventory on your website and sell it for you. Once you become a publisher with Mediavine, they manage the entire process for you as long as you’re with them.
Mediavine is a supportive network that put their publishers before anything else. They also have a supportive Facebook group and a Helpdesk with lightning-fast responses located right within your publisher dashboard.
The ads and videos you see on websites are known as display advertising. It is one of the ways bloggers monetize their websites.
Mediavine manages this display advertising space and sells it to the highest bidder on your behalf. The revenue is split between you and Mediavine – 75% to you and 25% to Mediavine.
10 Reasons I Moved My Ads to Mediavine Publisher Network
1. Simple User Dashboard
The Mediavine dashboard is simple and straightforward. It doesn’t require mucking about with tons of pages and uploading codes to your website.
You can control how many ads appear on your website, how they appear, what type of ads, and much more.
Once it’s all set up and you install the plugin, you’re good to go. If you don’t want to mess with anything, you can provide temporary access to your website and Mediavine will set it up for you.
The dashboard also provides stats on your site health check. This gives you an idea of how your ads are doing and what you should be aiming for with ideas for improvements.
I was quite chuffed the first time I received the teal stars across the board. The teal star is the highest level of ads performing awesomely.
2. Easy to Understand Metrics and Revenue
The dashboard with your daily and monthly earnings as well as other stats is very easy to understand.
You can go back for up to 90 days to compare your earnings. Your revenue share is very clear and not mired in tech speak. There are also no hidden fees.
3. Impressive Support
Mediavine has an amazing and supportive exclusive Facebook group where publishers interact with and help each other.
This is in addition to Mediavine providing regular updates on what’s going on with their network and how it affects their publishers. We are never kept in the dark about anything.
Did I also mention lightning-fast responses whenever you send an email asking a question or have any issues with your website or display ads?
4. Suggestions to Increase Income
Mediavine has a blog with lots of suggestions on how to improve your revenue. I started making those changes on my websites bit by bit a few months after I joined the network.
The rewards were evident almost immediately and have continued to improve every day over the last year.
There is also a site health check on your dashboard, which lets you know how well your site is doing with ad placements and other important metrics.
5. MVP Loyalty Bonus
Yep. For every year you remain with Mediavine, you get a percentage of your earnings back. The longer you remain with them, the higher your percentage is.
I don’t think any other ad network or ad management company offers this type of bonus. I was super excited to see my first-year bonus.
6. Video Monetization
You can turn all your posts into videos. These videos are also monetized and you can earn even more money through them.
The more blog posts you convert into videos, the more money you can earn.
For instance, the video within this article can be monetized once I sign up for Mediavine Publisher Network.
7. Sponsored Post Opportunities With Mediavine
Mediavine can promote your website to advertisers for sponsored post opportunities so you don’t have to go out and find these opportunities.
While the opportunities aren’t widespread yet, you can be sure they are working behind the lines to make it happen.
Mediavine has an exclusive multipurpose plugin named Create by Mediavine, which does many wonderful things.
It can make regular posts turn out beautiful without slowing down your website. You can use this plugin for recipe websites, craft websites, travel websites and so much more.
Publishers can also monetize this plugin and earn additional income. Check out the short video explanation below.
You can use the plugin if you’re not a Mediavine publisher. However, you won’t be able to monetize it with ads.
9. Networking Opportunities With Mediavine
Apart from the supportive Facebook group, Mediavine also holds conferences every year where publishers can meet and network. There will be two conferences in 2019 in Austin and Chicago.
9. Prompt Payment With Mediavine
Your earnings are paid promptly every 65 days with a wide variety of avenues to receive your payments no matter where you’re located around the world.
Your payments are never withheld. You can download payment notifications every month directly from your dashboard.
I love the email notice from them on the first day of every month notifying me of ka-ching!
10. Loads of Money With Mediavine
As you can tell by now, I don’t mean a few cups of coffee money. I mean enough money to buy a car or go on vacation or pay down debt significantly or something else big kind of money.
Once you implement all of Mediavine’s recommendations, you can expect to start seeing a jump in monthly income.
How Much Money Do You Make with Mediavine?
It all depends on you but you can make anything from a few hundred to five figures every month. I’m still somewhere in-between.
Your income continues to grow as you implement recommendations and create targeted content for your audience.
How Many Sessions Do You Need for Mediavine?
Now that you’re intrigued, how can you get your website onto Mediavine Publisher Network?
To qualify, your website needs to have had 50,000 sessions (not page views) in the last 30 days. You can find this information on your Google Analytics dashboard under the website data homepage.
You must also be ready to give Mediavine ads exclusivity on your website (I promise you won’t regret this).
Don’t worry, you can still include affiliate links from Amazon and other companies without issues.
If you don’t have enough sessions, you can start following Mediavine blog HERE for tips, tricks, and recommendations. Start implementing them on your website.
I’m currently working on getting two new websites on health and fitness and special occasions up to the number of sessions required so I can get them onto Mediavine.
Does Mediavine Pay More Than Adsense?
Hell yeah! How much more? It all depends on how well you implement all the recommendations and entice a new audience over to your website while keeping the current audience engaged.
How to Apply to Mediavine?
If you’ve checked your Google Analytics and you have 50,000 sessions plus you haven’t been blacklisted by any ad networks, put in an application HERE.
